The Scoppa Story
I’m Emily, the founder of Scoppa. Scoppa is a new online Gifts and Homewares shop which is passionate about showcasing the best of UK small independent brands. There is so much incredible creativity, skilled craftsmanship and design work close to home in the UK and I am so excited to share some beautiful products with you.
I live in Canterbury with my husband, two children and black Labrador pup. I have spent my professional life as a business psychologist. My work involved helping people develop their leadership skills, strategic outlooks and approaches to their own self development throughout their careers. This last bit, is the bit I really loved!
But the time has come to dive into something that I have been dreaming about for a long time! It’s not an overnight decision to open a shop. There are a lot of upfront costs which is risky. I don’t know if people will like what I like! But having always wanted to create something of my own, and with the children growing out of the tiny stage, it felt like 2025 was the year!
My Mission
My mission with Scoppa is to create a space online where you can go to “shop small”. We are all encouraged to support small independent businesses, but that can sometimes be hard to navigate. I hope to make this easier for you by curating high quality, fun and beautiful cards and gifts and then bringing them together in one place. I will offer gifting inspiration and I will be a present and available shopkeeper for those who have questions or would like advice on gifting to a special someone!
Probably because of my psychology background, I am as fascinated by the stories behind the brands as I am with the products themselves. Who are the makers? When and why did they start their business? What are their inspirations for design and creativity?
For me, getting to know the people behind the brands really adds to the buying experience and creates even more meaningful gifts! I will share these stories with you at Scoppa and I hope you love them as much as I do. Maybe they might just inspire some of you to take the leap and start your own creative endeavours!

If you have got this far then thank you! Little Emily who used to make her own greetings cards and play shops, libraries and post offices all the time would be so excited to see that I have my own real stock room full of real cards and gifts and books! She would also be very excited at the prospect of posting lots of parcels!
